Rudolf Nureyev

Apart from Vaslav Nijinsky, perhaps the greatest male dancer who ever lived or danced.

I miss ballet so much.  It's like meditation for the body.  When you do it, you lose all sense of time, of the problems that press you in your life outside the studio.  Each step you take, each great leap, each complex and difficult movement, is enough.  You are at one with the universe.  Magic.  Its very hardness, the deep skill required, makes it special.

At any event, look at this image of the young Nureyev, dancing nude.  What a magnificent body!  How elegant his posture is, yet how masculine and strong his body.

My dance teacher told me that ballet is the only art form where you have to make the instrument first.
