A Brazilian ballet dancer, photographed here by Xavier B.  His body is so muscled that you can't see the "dance belt" (= protective dance thong) under his tights.  I can't believe I actually once had a body like that!  How the mighty are fallen.  And even the less mighty, for that matter <g>.

She knew it was a cliché about ballet dancers, but in truth, he didn’t seem much like a normal bloke. Yet he’d asked her out – but what if he was gay? Was it worth wasting time getting to know him and like him? It was bad enough having a gay brother. She loved Adam. But at least if he’d been straight he would have had straight friends who might have asked her out. Jasper, Adam’s only friend from uni, had asked her out, but she’d refused him. She had known that Adam was in love with him, even though Adam hadn’t told her. She’d felt that Jasper had been incredibly insensitive and heartless even to ask, and she told him so, her forthright language making his handsome face flush with anger.

Jockstrap and tights

Not sure quite why this bloke is wearing a jockstrap and tights as well as leg warmers.  Tights plus leg warmers would mean he was a dancer.  But dancers wear a dance belt -- a kind of padded thong -- to keep their doings from being crushed by their legs during dancing (and believe me, it's indispensable), not a jockstrap.  A jockstrap doesn't hold your junk quite firmly enough, especially if you're doing grands battements or grands jetés, not to mention that the straps across your buttocks spoil the "line", the beautiful form that a dancer hopes to achieve.

No reason at all why a runner couldn't wear leg warmers after running (they help stop cramp), though I've never seen one do so.

My dance teachers wouldn't allow us to wear leg warmers in class, as it hides the precise angle and turn-out of your legs and allows you to "cheat", and ballet is about precise line and precise placement and perfect positioning.

Never mind.  He looks very nice, whether he be a dancer or an athlete.

The Beauty of Ballet Dancers

Ballet dancers have very strong bodies. They (I can't say we any more, alas) do vigorous exercise and stretching, and their bodies are nicely proportioned. You could perhaps argue that male dancers' leg muscles are overdeveloped, from all the great jumps which look so beautiful and spectacular. And you could say that female ballet dancers might have too small breasts, although thank heavens the fashion for boyish ballerinas has faded. But both genders develop very nice bums, from all the work at the barre and in the centre using one leg--balancing on one leg in arabesques just as one example.
