More on Lance Lundsten

I talked about the tragic suicide of this young gay teen a coupla months ago.  His parents (from whom he was estranged) and the local newspaper have consistently denied that it was suicide.  As Box Turtle Bulletin reports, it has been officially determined that it was in fact suicide:

The mystery surrounding the January death of Lance Lundsten, the Miltona teen whose controversial death sparked a conversation about teen suicide across the nation, has now been revealed by the Douglas County Medical Examiner.
Dr. Mark Spanbauer confirmed Monday, March 7, that the teen’s manner of death was ruled suicide. The toxicology report from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and MEDTOX, determined the cause of death to be a mixed drug ingestion, according to Spanbauer.
“It was a mixed drug ingestion and suicide was the manner of death,” Spanbauer said.

But the local gay-haters are still in denial.  The local paper has not reported this news.  Read BTB's full report.

From time to time I get growly emails about my anger and hostility towards organized religion.  And my response is always:  it's because of stuff like this.  What happened to compassion, love, forgiveness, understanding?

There is so much suffering in the world.  Why must we add to it?  Let's do what we can to make the world a better place, not a worse one.  Especially if we are Christian, or try to be.
